What to Eat Before a Meet

Make sure you are eating healthy foods.  Eat lots of fruits and veggies.  Cut out soda and sweets.  Drink lots of water to stay hydrated when you are trying to get in shape. 

 

2-3 Hours Before 

Eat meals containing carbs, protein, and healthy fats such as:

  • Whole wheat pasta with cheese and veggies

  • Oatmeal with fruit and nuts

  • Peanut butter and jelly or banana sandwich

  • Greek yogurt with fruit, nuts, and granola

  • Veggie omelet with toast

Avoid fibrous veggies and high-fat foods that are hard to digest such as:

  • Broccoli, onions, and large servings of beans

  • Cream-based soups, burgers, fries, and ice cream

 

1 Hour Before 

Eat snacks containing easily digestible carbs and a little protein such as:

  • Whole wheat toast with nut butter

  • Banana and a small handful of cashews

  • Crackers and hummus

  • Small bowl of cereal

  • Fruit-and-nut bar

  • Cheese stick and carrots

Avoid large meals and foods that are difficult to digest such as:

  • Spicy foods

  • Pears, apples, and melons

 

15-30 Minutes Before 

Eat small servings of easily digestible carbs such as:

  • Banana

  • Applesauce

  • A few crackers

  • Raisins

Avoid large serving of protein and carbs or high-saturated fat and high-fiber foods such as:

  • Pasta

  • Bagel and cream cheese

  • Fried foods

  • Granola or energy bar
